The McCaskey Alumni Association was organized in 1994. We are here to be of service to the more than 40,000 graduates of McCaskey High School.

Special Events

The Alumni Book Challenge

The Alumni Book Challenge has raised over $120,000 in the past six years for the McCaskey High School Campus. Thank you to all who have so generously donated to this fundraising drive. We invite all alumni to consider the 2008 drive as a way of giving back to their school as well as ensuring the continuation of excellence of education in Lancaster.

The Distinguished Alumni Assembly

The Distinguished Alumni Assembly was held on Monday, April 14, 2008, in the McCaskey auditorium at 8:30 am. Five alumni, chosen by a special alumni committee, were honored for their contributions to society after graduating from McCaskey. The students enjoyed hearing from these special guests. The 2008 recipients are:

Richard M. Scott ’36 (deceased) - A Major General in the U.S. Air Force, former Mayor of Lancaster, and Chair of Bring Baseball Back to Lancaster Committee.

Christian Engle McMurtrie ’52 - Chairman of Engle-Hambright & Davies and active volunteer in the Lancaster community.

Joseph P. Nolt ’55 - Chairman of Murray Risk Management & Insurance with a life-long involvement with Lancaster City and County.

Nancy Valavanes Kambouroglos ’71 - A current World Cultures and Sociology teacher at J.P. McCaskey and a very active member of the Lancaster community.

David L. Greene ’94 - White House Correspondent for National Public Radio and loyal Steelers fan.

The fifth annual banquet/fundraiser for 2008 was held that same evening in the McCaskey East cafeteria. Over 120 alumni and guests attended this banquet and were treated to a wonderful evening of good food, fellowship, talks from the Distinguished Alumni, and a special Quiz Bowl presentation featuring McCaskey students vs. the Distinguished Alumni recipients.

The McCaskey Alumni Association

The McCaskey Alumni Association has again contracted with the Bernard C. Harris Publishing Company, Inc. to publish a new Alumni Directory, which is now available. Please call the Alumni Office if you would like a copy of the Directory and did not order one from Harris. We have a limited supply available.

The McCaskey Alumni Association still has available prints of an 1853 lithograph of Lancaster City. The prints are available color washed and matted for $100 and in black and white (not matted or washed) for $35. The original lithograph was loaned to Susan Garofola by Gerald Lestz, Class of '31, to raise money for the Alumni Association.

Local artist, Tom Hermansader, has recently painted McCaskey High School. As part of our 70 year celebration of McCaskey, Tom has graciously offered to give the alumni Association $25 for each limited edition lithograph and artist's proof lithograph that is sold through the Alumni Office. He has prepared 950 lithographs which will sell for $100 each, and 95 artist's proof lithographs which will sell for $150 each. All lithographs will be signed and numbered by the artist and are 8-1/2" by 15-1/2 inches in size. Lithographs can be mailed anywhere in the United States. Only purchases made through the Alumni Office will receive the $25 donation, therefore, please call the Alumni Office 717-399-6418 with your order. Money raised from this project will fund in part the 70 year celebration.
